The distinctive profile of the Langdale Pikes is instantly recognisable in any view and this rugged group of mountains offers a variety of walks to suit all tastes, from a gentle climb to Stickle Tarn to a full-scale scramble up Pavey Ark. If ancient history interests you, a “stone axe factory” on the scree slopes beneath Pike O’Stickle once exported flint axes far and wide in the Neolithic period.
