It is a solid stone and slate house, primarily from the 17th Century. It belonged to a wealthy ‘statesman’ farming family and contains carved woodwork, books, papers, furniture and fascinating domestic implements from the past, largely accumulated by the Browne family who lived here from 1626 to 1943. A real fire burns in the ‘down house’ most days, lending a homely atmosphere. The property is quite dark inside so we recommend you visit on a bright day if you are to enjoy its many fascinating nooks and crannies!
