The Beacon is home to West Cumbria’s Museum collection and traces the social, industrial and maritime history of this Georgian ’gem’ town. Smuggling and slavery, mining and meteorology, America and the Caribbean have all played an important part in the town’s past. This harbour side attraction also offers panoramic views of the West Coast across the Solway to Scotland, an exhibition gallery, a gift shop and café.
